Chania Municipal Garden Photo Exhibition 1870-2013

Chania Municipal Garden opened for a great historical photo exhibition for the 143 years from the first day of operation under the initiative of Vassilis Stathakis and the auspices of Prefecture of Crete, Regional Unit of Chania and IEMC-UNESCO. The event was organized with the occasion of the supplementation of 100 years of the Unification of Crete with Greece.
The event, took place in 12 of August 2013 and was characterized as the most important event of this summer from the locals and the press.
Ms Simandiraki, president of “Tangible & Intagible Heritage Committee” of IEMC-UNESCO, presented the history of the Public Garden, and the whole history of Crete, from 1870 to the present day. “The important events that changed the flow of Cretan history and their impact on people’s daily lives, are in the most vivid way, through the lens of both branded, and anonymous photographers” stated excited.
The program included a concert by the Choir and Mandolin music scheme of Chania.
